Hot Dog Sculpture
In 2019 Santa Fe artist Geoff Banzoff approached me about creating animated lighting for his Hot Dog sculpture art. Somewhere between the hunter-gatherer era and the industrial revolution somebody thought to pack meat inside intestines, boil it, and serve it on a bun. At last the hot dog has reached its next stage of evolution, where the nutrition is in the concept itself.
Within the first hour of his exhibition Geoff sold all 6 sculptures for upwards of $350 each. It was a smash success.
We collaborated to make a heat sink structure which is not visible to the viewer. The lights and a tiny microcontroller are mounted to the heat sink and carefully nestled inside the display box which supports the sculptural element.
I performed all tech on this project including planning, estimating, purchasing, safety, fabrication, and computer coding.
